Jinhyun Jeong captures narratives in flux, through diversely constructed scenes of memory within her abstract paintings. Geometric patterns, dots, and amorphously organic forms continuously reveal and obscure themselves across the frames of her work, generating a sense of visual playfulness. Jeong is particularly engaged with the potentials of composition, and the ways in which repetitive elements can create a space beyond the viewer’s imagination. The brightness and expansiveness enabled by primary or pastel tones is a recurrent visual characteristic in her work. In her liberation of forms, Jeong opens up a realm in which the viewer can explore the notion of “essence”, whether within themselves or the exterior world.
