양서현 작가는 작품에서 ‘실뜨기’라는 놀이로 평화로운 소통이라는 주제를 표현했다. 연인이나 가족과 같은 주변 사람들뿐만 아니라 반려동물을 포함한 모든 대상들과의 평화로운 소통을 나타내고자 하였다.
실뜨기는 단순히 놀이가 아니라 서로의 감정과 체온을 직설적으로 느끼게 하는 행위로 이어져오고 있다.
“이번에는 내 차례!”라고 외치며 두 사람이 주고받으면서 여러 가지 모양을 만드는 놀이는 상대의 성공은 나의 패배가 아니라 새로운 기회가 주어진 것이라는 평화로움을 말해준다.
"The theme of my work is communication. Communication is expressed as a cat's cradle. I hope to share peaceful communication within my work, portraying this sense of harmony with all objects, including pets, as well as people around them such as lovers and families. In the societies of Eskimos and Native Americans, the cat's cradle is said to hold the religious meaning of making wishes, by creating shapes beyond simple play. In this way, the cat's cradle has led to the act of making each other's emotions and body temperature felt, as fingers become the pillars of the east and west. "It's my turn!"
